Mediterranean Honeymoon

Portugal and Andalusia: azulejos, Douro vineyards and the courtyards of Seville.

12-14 days 2 countries Concierge 24/7

The essence

Southern Europe at the pace of two

Some honeymoons ask for a beach and others ask for streets. This is the second kind: azulejos catching Atlantic light, a Douro cruise between terraced vineyards, Andalusian courtyards scented with orange blossom and long tapas nights. Portugal and southern Spain share climate, cuisine and an unhurried way of understanding time that suits newlyweds perfectly.

The route avoids the crowded hours: Alcázar tickets before opening, rooftop dinner in Lisbon as the city turns golden, and comfortable trains between cities instead of highways. You sleep in small hotels inside the historic center, always walking distance from everything.

What we would tell a friend

Advice from our travel designers: what we book first, what we avoid, and the details that turn a good trip into an unforgettable one.

01

Book the Alhambra months ahead

Named tickets sell out 2 to 3 months in advance. It is the first thing we lock once dates are confirmed.

02

Travel by train between cities

Lisbon to Porto and Seville to Córdoba are fast and comfortable by rail. It avoids driving and parking in historic centers.

03

Dine late, like locals

In Spain and Portugal kitchens open from 8:30 pm. Booking at 9 pm gets you the real atmosphere of the place.

04

Bring shoes with good soles

Historic centers are cobbled and steep. Comfortable footwear completely changes the day.

05

Avoid August in Andalusia

Temperatures exceed 40 degrees in Seville and Córdoba. Spring and autumn are clearly superior.

06

Ask for an inner room in the old town

Pedestrian streets have nightlife. A courtyard-facing room guarantees rest without giving up the location.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time for this route?

April, May, June, September and October are ideal: mild weather, long days and beautiful light. March and November work well with fewer people. July and August bring strong heat to Andalusia, and in that case the itinerary shifts toward northern Portugal.

How much does this honeymoon cost?

The 12 to 14 day route starts at USD 4,900 per person in double occupancy and includes characterful hotels, trains between cities, private guides, tastings and the listed experiences. International flights are quoted separately.

Can we add Madrid or Barcelona?

Yes. Both fit as an opening or closing and connect by high-speed rail. They add two to three nights to the itinerary.

Portugal or Andalusia if we have few days?

With seven nights we recommend choosing one. Portugal works beautifully for a first time in Europe; Andalusia is richer in heritage and has longer nights.

What documents do we need?

Schengen entry requirements depend on your nationality. The source airlines check is the IATA Travel Centre, where you can verify your exact case before buying tickets.
